Earlier this year, Air Canada announced it was cutting ties with Aeroplan in 2020. I wrote about some of the reasons for this divorce in a piece for Huffington Quebec. The Canadian loyalty program gets a lot of grief for the high fees it charges on some rewards flights. This is particularly true on out-of-Canada and transatlantic flights

However, Aeroplan does offer some great reward flights options across the Star Alliance network. So, I decided to share with you some flight ideas that you may find handy by 2020.

Bangkok, Thailand to Beijing, China | China Airlines

BKK-PEK – One-way – Economy – 20,000 – $40.40
BKK-PEK – One-way – Business – 40,000 – $28.90

Cairo to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt | Egypt Air

CAI-SSH – Return – Economy – 35,000 – $11.50

This return flight from the Egyptian capital to the resort city of Sharm el- Sheikh is worth it. Particularly if you don’t intend on booking a flight+hotel package. Hilton properties in Sharm el-Sheikh require very low reward points on stays. You end-up with a great trip deal.
