Vacations by Marriott Web bookings can help you boost your Marriott Rewards account balance
Vacations by Marriott allows you to package your vacations to Marriott properties. You can combine a discounted package on a room + flight, room + flight + car or a room + car basis.
The web site is managed by Expedia for Marriott. However, not all Marriott properties are available at your desired dates, so keep that in mind when you book your vacation.
Where can I find the Vacations by Marriott Web site?
On the upper left hand-side of Marriott.com main page, you'll see a Menu link. Click on it.
A series of secondary links will pop-out. If you click on the Deals & Packages, another set of links appears. To get to Vacations by Marriott Web site click on Hotel & Flight Packages.
The search console is straight forward and intuitive. The system will automatically adjust the length of your stay depending on your flight arrival date. Although you can only stay at one property per booking, you can decide on the start date and length of your stay in the package as shown below.
Earn 5,000 Marriott Rewards points
For each booking made through Vacations by Marriott, Marriott Rewards members will get 5,000 Marriott Rewards points. You will not get any other points. No additional points will be issued even if your spend level entitles you to more than 5,000 points. One other drawback is that none of the night count towards your Marriott Rewards status.
You'll get more points if you have and use your Marriott Rewards Premier Visa .
> > Careful! Quoted prices are always in US Dollar. So keep that in mind to avoid a surprise on your credit card bill.
When should I book with Vacations by Marriott?
Two main factors will make it worth booking with Vacations by Marriott:
Factor 1: The package offers a significant discount
I’ve browsed the site to check on room + flight pricing. I’ve learned one thing: always to double-check. Compare the results you get from Vacations by Marriott against booking the hotel and the air fare and car rental individually. Sometimes the discount is worth it, sometimes there’s no difference. What surprised me was that pricing was higher than individual bookings 50% of the time!
So keep that in mind: always double check. That being said I’ve seen some great offers. The most I’ve encountered were for US destinations out of Canada. I wrote an article for Kan Football Club 3 bonnes raisons pour suivre l'Impact à New York. The prices to New York are great!
Factor 2: Your hotel stay is short
Since every booking entitles you to 5,000 Marriott Rewards points. That means that you have to book a hotel stay value of $US500 or less. Remember that the nights booked will not count towards your Elite Status. Thus the 5,000 points should be seen as a big bonus on a short and inexpensive stay.
Most of the time the site will get you the discounted flight + hotel you've been looking for. It applies to destinations where hotels are expensive such as New York, London and Paris. Always double check if you are getting a deal or not. Also the site features prices only in US Dollar.
