A real gourmet experience in an airport

As you make your way into the airport terminal, you can’t help but to notice the hotel signs. Yes, in case you haven’t noticed, there is a hotel in the terminal building. The Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is located right above the US check-in desks and linked directly to the underground & multi-floor parking lots.

That’s great news for travelers from out of town who wish to spend a night before their early morning flight out of YUL. However, the best news is the Marriott Montreal In-Terminal Hotel features a restaurant with a gourmet menu offer.

The Bijou Resto | Bar, the hotel’s restaurant,  offers convenient and practical lunch options. The hotel has invested heavily in its restaurant offering and brought in Montreal Chef Louis Rodaros in mid-2017.

On the one hand you can choose the table d’hôte at $22.75 which features gourmet food: from watermelon & feta salad, fish of the day to bavette and filet mignon. On the other hand, if you’re in hurry, you can have a quick meal from the 5-10-20 menu: sandwiches, salads or comfort food. The choice is yours as the food is consistently market-fresh with  the chef’s Mediterranean signature to it.

Table d’hôte tasting

We had a chance to taste some of the items from the table d’hôte menu.  We started with the entrées, which features two big favorites.: the Asian-style red tuna tataki and the  watermelon & feta cheese salad. There was no argument on the freshness of the ingredients.

Although the serving for the entrées and the main-course is generous, the emphasis is really put on the taste. You will notice the high standard of service. Again, you are having a meal in a hotel. The level of service is totally different. Actually, I don’t call it service, it call it hospitality. No detail escapes the staff’s attention and anticipation is a guiding rule.

5-10-20 Menu

If you’re in a rush, the 5-10-20 Menu is your savior. As selection of quick eats and comfy food with a gourmet touch will entice you. If I could recommend one item from that menu it would be the signature Lobster Mac and Cheese!

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel free parking

The hotel’s food offering as been as huge success with business travelers. But it also caters to Montrealers who come to the airport to pick-up family and friends or leisure travelers who wish to unwind before catching their flight.

The restaurant will offer patrons complimentary 4-hour parking . It’s important that you use the HotelParc interior parking located under the US Terminal. Make sure you have your ticket in hand, the restaurant staff will give you an exit card.

Verdict

The Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel offers a high-value dining experience to all. Gourmet lunch or dinner with complimentary parking is hard to beat in the airport area. When I travel with my family, I personally have a meal there after we check-in and before we enter the secure zone. The restaurant offers a quiet setting and we can also lounge in the lobby area before we make a move towards the security lines.

Another reason why it makes sense to unwind at the restaurant is that it feels like an airport lounge. I believe it’s a great alternative to paying for public lounges that are crowded and most times come with a poor food spread. I think the value lies within Bijou Resto’s gourmet menu and settings.
